The Church of England has no funding from the government. It is entirely funded by voluntary donations and from investments which were badly depleted during the depressions in the nineties.
What this means for St Lawrence is that we, as the congregation, are expected to finance our share of the pay of Rev'd Pat, the upkeep of the church and give an annual sum to the Diocese of Rochester.
Do we manage to do this? Sadly, even with all our extra fund raising activities, the help of English Heritage, etc and regular giving we run at a deficit.
Please can you help?
There are two different funds. The first is for the Christian work of the church (Stewardship) and the second for the upkeep of our beautiful building (Friends of Mereworth Church).
